Red Hook Dog Rescue - Olive

This weekend, Red Hook Dog Rescue invited me to take portraits of some of their dogs that are in need of a forever home.  They are based in Brooklyn and they focus on dogs that have special needs, ie blind, deaf, etc.

Below is Olive.  She is very sweet and very sociable.  The rescue group estimates that she is about less than 2 yrs old so she is pretty puppy-sh and just wants to be with other dogs.  She is taking basic obedience classes and she can sit and stay on command for her treat.

Adopted - Washington

Woohoo! I am happy to hear that Washington, from Louie's Legacy, was adopted today. He is going to a home where they adopted another dog from Louie's Legacy a couple of years ago. So Washington is going to have a companion.  Great news!

Best Kept Secret - Sandy Hook, NJ

In April, Stacey and her partner-in-crime Gracie introduced me to Sandy Hook Beach in New Jersey. Sandy Hook, located about an hour away from Staten Island, NY is a 7 mile peninsula that has beaches, parks and an old US Army Post.  It is one of those places where you will need to return a couple of times to see everything that it offers.

For Stacey and Gracie, Sandy Hook is their place of comfort and tranquility.  They spend most of their time on the beach, enjoying the coastal views and watching Gracie dig holes in the sand.  Walking on the hiking trails is also a favorite way of spending time there and bonding.   Sandy Hook is definitely a place where you can escape from the reality and just enjoy what the natural world has to offer. I am truly honored and grateful to Stacey for allowing me to be part of their lives and to capture those precious moments.

Ms. Treasure

Treasure is an dog up for adoption from Louie's Legacy.  She is mostly lab with a mix of pit bull terrier.  She is the sweetest dogs that I've encountered, she just wants to be social with other dogs and loves rubs and attention.  Here is her full bio.

Ms. Zelda

This past weekend, I went to photograph the adoptable dogs from Louie's Legacy at Pet Smart and this one dog caught my attention.  Her name is Zelda and basically looked my dog Jameson as a puppy a few years ago.  

She is about 30lbs - 40lbs and is pretty petite but very muscular.  When I saw her, I assumed she was still a puppy, about 5 months old because her energy was very puppy-sh.  She loves to interact with everything that is going on around her and she would make a great companion for someone looking to adopt an active dog.
