Frequently Asked Questions

Newborn girl dressed in a pink romper for her newborn session in NYC

How do I book a newborn session?
Thank you for considering me to photograph your new arrival. If you would like to reserve a session with me, you can get in contact with me here and I will get back to you about scheduling your session. We will discuss your baby’s due date and who will be photographed for your session. I will email a contract and I require an $100 non-refundable retainer fee to reserve your session. Once you’ve reserved your session, I will provide a guide on what to expect and how to prepare for your session.

How early should I book my session?
I would recommend that you book your session during your second trimester. It allows me to block out my calendar for your baby’s due date, especially since babies can either arrive earlier or later than their expected due date.

I just gave birth and I’ve decided that I want to book a newborn photo shoot. Is it too late to reserve?
Even though I’m usually booked a few months in advance with sessions, there might be some openings in my calendar where I can schedule your photo shoot. Just contact me as soon as you can so that we can figure out a date for your session.

When should my baby’s newborn session take place?
Newborn sessions take place when your baby is between 5 days and 14 days old. Babies around 14 days old or older are a bit less flexible to pose and tend to cluster feed and be awake for their session. I schedule all newborn sessions at around 10am and most sessions range between 2 - 3 hours.

My baby is 4 weeks old. Is that too late for a Newborn session? At this age, babies tend to be more awake so I would expect to have awake shots for their photo shoot. If they happen to fall asleep during their session, then that's great! But I would expect to have beautiful awake pictures of your baby.

Do I need to bring my own props to our session?
At my studio, I have various colors, outfits, headbands and bonnets to coordinate for your baby’s session. I also have props to pose your baby in and various backdrops. So there isn’t a need to bring any props to the session. However if there is a special family heirloom item (knitted blankets, etc) that are meaningful to you and your family, we can definitely incorporate those items in your baby’s session.

How will I receive my photos?
Photos will be delivered on a private online gallery between 2-3 weeks after your session. You will be able to favorite your images and download them to share with your family and friends.
